Storyteller Contest Winner, Sophie Valeriano

Sophie earned her 5th grade class a field trip to Esteban E. Torres Performing Arts Magnet High School. Superintendent Austin Beutner honored Sophie with a certificate of achievement and her story was turned into a short film by the seniors at Torres High. Congratulations, Sophie Valeriano!

LA's Best Enrollment for 2019-20

LA’s Best will be registering students for the next school year 2019-20 in Room 12 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. on:

General Registration
Wednesday, May 15, 2019 Grades K-1
Thursday, May 16, 2019 Grades 2-3
Friday, May 17, 2019 Grades 4-5

Parent Orientation – Room 12
May 15 – May 17, 2019
Session 1: 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Session 2: 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM

LA’s Best has four primary registration phases. No student is guaranteed a spot. These phases include:
1.) Parent orientation/enrollment
2.) Pre-registration
3.) General registration
4.) Establishment of a Wait List. Children are not “accepted” into the program as participants until 1) they have received notification of enrollment; and 2) a parent/guardian has attended an LA’s BEST Orientation and has signed the Parent/Guardian Partnership Agreement. Completed applications do not automatically guarantee a space in the program. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
5.) All kinder students are encouraged to apply.

Special Local School Funding Parcel Tax Election: June 4, 2019

To provide additional locally controlled school funding, the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education voted to place Measure EE, a 16 cent per square foot local school funding parcel tax, on the ballot in a special election on June 4, 2019. Kindergarten Tour

Please join us for an informational meeting on Thursday, May 16, 2019 in the Auditorium at 9 AM for all new Kindergarten parents. Parents will be allowed to visit our Kinder classes and will be given information necessary for enrollment. We hope to see you there!!

In-School Dentist is Coming

The in-school dentist is coming to Shenandoah on November 14 & 15. It is a convenient way to not miss work and keeps your child in school and learning. Please complete a permission slip if you would like your child examined by the dentist. Permission slips will be sent home on Monday, Sept.17.
