Ferrara Welcome to our Title 1 annual meeting I'm going to be holding this meeting or making this video in English and in Spanish this is you be the English version of our video annual Title 1 meeting we hold this every year and thank you for being here the purpose of this meeting is to provide you information with about the title one program and its requirements and the first thing I need to tell you what's the purpose of Title 1 straight from the federal government the purpose is to provide a significant opportunity to receive a fair Equitable and high-quality education and to close educational gaps and that discriminate Act of the federal government type of wine is a program that provides supplemental federal funds to help meet the educational needs of Louis shaving students in high-poverty schools in LAUSD School poverty ranking of at least 45% to be title once that means that the school has to be in the top 45% of schools in The District in terms of students low-income students Title 1 schools provide supplemental services to students so they provide a little bit extra to students to help them to do well in school are School Shenandoah is 322 out of 770 schools in the district 92.3% of the students in our school qualify for free or reduced lunch and are Title 1 allocation for this school year was $279,000 Aldo's who's your eligible for Title 1 funding based on the poverty level the selection process for providing Title 1 services to students is not facing them being low income it is based entirely on their shipment a student is in a Title 1 School the student can receive Services If the child qualifies based on their academic achievement single School plan for student achievement spsa is the schools plan for how it spends its Title 1 money how it is going to use its Title 1 money and you can access the school plan here is how you do it you go to achieve. LAUSD and you find our school you go once you have found our school you can go into the school directory so to find our school you go to achieve. LAUSD. / domain / for click on find a school click on school directory your foot in the name of the school then you choose to school then you click on school plan for student achievement and you click on the year and you can do this Friday on the district you can see the spsa for any school so if you have children at multiple schools you can see the spsa for each of the schools bsp a is developed by the school site Council which is required by the California Education Code School site council is the decision-making Council for all funds programs funded to the Consolidated application which in school includes Title 1 the School site Council develops roof news and approves the spsa and it has to develop goals and activities that are lined with data to address specific student needs and the spsa must be evaluated annually what that means is School site Council looks at where our students doing well where they not doing so well and it develop programs to address the areas where students are not doing so well and then allocate some of the funding to support those programs bsp a includes the comprehensive needs assessment Based on data it develops goals and objectives then it has to develop methods and instructional strategies that will address students places to budgetary resources in those needs and then the School site Council monitor student progress in those areas are schools Title 1 budget includes the title one the problem-solving coordinator Miss Simon she and I are both halftime funded from our Title 1 budget we also purchased a school nurse for one day a week a school psychologist for 2 days a week and the responding for teachers to provide featuring to students party title one is that we are encouraging parents and families to be involved and engaged in two schools both at the school district level at the local level at the community of schools and our schools so we urge you to consider thinking how you might be willing to learn more and support other parent leaders by participating in these opportunities the district has a district-wide Title 1 parent and family engagement policy that policy is distributed annually to parents to attend a Title 1 School and that policy described how the district will strengthen is full capacity for building relationships it includes a system for evaluating the policy identifying barriers to successful parental engagement and and what looks for ways to involve parents in the development of the local control and accountability plan Federal addendum which is the district plan for spending funding and you can find information about fishing the parent student handbook if you did receive a paper version of the head book this year it is available to you through the parent portal you can find it by information in it in addition to the District parent and family engagement policy East the one school must also have a title 1 parent and family engagement policy that just developed with parents and must hold an annual annual Title 1 meeting that's what we're doing right now Barbie tingz workshops and curriculum and assessment you have the opportunity we must have the School parent and family engagement policy and the school and we are required to train staff in PA I said how to be partners with each other okay so every year the schools receive some money that they specifically set aside we are back at school you have the right to know whether your children's teachers are identified as ID qualified this is part of type of one all of our teachers here are identified which means that to have a high-school diploma or a GED and they have to have taken 60 semester units or 90 quarter units more college and university or or habit degree from University or pass instructional assistants all of our paraprofessionals have met all of these requirement show something for accountability the schools are held accountable for PS4 how many students does it state in the district are really looking for schools to reduce the numbers or the percentage graduating for whether students are graduating ready for college and career and attendance to reducing the number of students who are chronically absent so our data this is our data from last school year and it's missing some information because there were too many things that didn't happen last year so we are at our attendance rate showing in bread which means that the state has some concerns about our attendance however as you know between March and June there were children who had trouble just simply getting online to attend.
